May 29 - Post-Its
Do final pdf for and post Seasons' Eves (Op. 14) on The International Music Score Library Project, begin composition of Psalm 58 (inspired by George Crumb's Makrokosmos, Volume 1, orchestrated after his Echoes of Time and the River), transfer compositions from PC to Mac via email up to Waiting for Godot (Op. 128), with a 21st clip added to video for Camino Real: Block 9.
After all this,
off with Harriet towards
San Francisco,
via the
Marin Headlands
and
Golden Gate
Bridge,
to the
Marina
(for coffee and scones)
and
Fort
Mason,
meeting
up with
Lisa and
Tom (ascending the freight elevator, because it happens to be going our way),
taking in the revival of
Erling Wold's
Queer, where
the composer-guitarist, Jab (trumpet-player for Henry Miller in Brooklyn, who has moved back to Chicago, but is on an extended tour, playing a variety of gigs in the West),
Trauma Flintstone,
Ken Berry
(Casanova in Camino Real, who remains happily resident at Bondi Beach, Australia), and
all
turn
in
amazing
performances,
under
the
able
eye
of director
Jim Cave. No surprise, Erling's opera is every bit as fine as the ten-years-previously premiere -- in some ways even better, and a delightful time is had during the show, and after, by all (report soon in 21st-Century Music at 21st-centurymusic.blogspot.com and eventually at 21st-centurymusic.com and in print).

May 28 - Knowingly to the Books
Big excitement is trip to the library, to resupply Harriet (who is off on Goat Hall Productions business much of the day) with the weekly videos -- including
Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen, 1811 / 2008),
Shadowlands (1985),
Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking (2004),
The Shiralee (1987),
Shock (1946),
Siddhartha (Herman Hesse, 1922 / 1972),
The Sign of Four (Arthur Conan Doyle, 1890 / 1930),
Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and
Soldier's Home (Ernest Hemingway, 1925 / 1977) -- on a day (when H obtains through the mail
Magnificent Obsession, 1954) consistent with the
weird weather of this month (rain with only brief intervals of sun, and temps in the 60's, in a recent trend seemingly of warmer to colder, despite the lengthening days).
In other news, finish Psalm 57 (8-page variant on King David: IX), transfer compositions through The Pied Piper of Hamelin (Op. 116) from PC to Mac via email, create a pdf of Seasons' Eves (Op. 14): III. Autumn (Halloween), and incorporate a 20th clip for the Camino Real: Block 9 video.

May 27 - Fires on the Mountains
Up at 5:45am and
out the door,
through
through
a
blazing
mix
of
sun
and
shadow,
early enough to take care of errands,
for the weekly rendezvous with Crystal and Stanley.
Another
wonderful
time, with birthday gifts to bestow, before making the way to DVC and
last-minute make-up work
(exams,
quizzes,
compositions)
for the
Music Theoreticians and Historians
(with a break
to the bookstore
in-
between).
It's graduation day,
and wind up making an
impromptu visit to
Owen and the
Orchestra
on the
playing field during the ceremony, re essential department logistics.
Home, mid-evening, to compose page 7 of Psalm 57 (variant on King David: IX), transferring On the Road (Op. 112) from PC to Mac via email, doing a pdf of Seasons' Eves (Op. 14): II. Summer (Fireworks), and incorporating a 19th clip for the Camino Real: Block 9 video.
Up to an even 500 MB (48.87%) of the 1024 -- still comfortably with 8 days to spare re budgeted usage.
