December 30 - Arranging Things

John Bilotta and company stop by to drop off champagne for the New Year's fest -- they will go to the gig unencumbered via public transport.  Do the day's updates, including including several reviews of Sebastian Currier's Piano Music CD on 21st-Century Music, plus pdf for page 23 Street Songs, and beginning the composition of Psalm 83 "Keep Not Thou Silence", after Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire: VIII Nacht.

Head out in waxing light

across town, to reunite Harriet with her well-maintained vehicle,

then loop around on errands,

including picking up more opera videos at the library,

as the sky

recovers.  More ancilliary library re-organization later, finishing an accounting of all 50 U.S. States and most of the Canadian provinces on the Facebook Timeline map.  Also note with interest that many others are switching over to the new FB look, and am intrigued by the places that various folks have been, including Be'eri Moalem and Lo Ravel.  Make inquiries as to the purchase of an old slide projector  -- perhaps a way to deal with many of these old boxed-up shots, which are still in impressive condition...  Also close to having a final program for tomorrow, plus finish off re-perusing

December 27 - Back to the Grid

Great to be home, catching up with work including another Street Songs pdf (page 20) and composition sheet re Psalm 82 (12).

December 21 - Making It

We've survived again through the solstice -- 48 degrees, sunny, calm, and reasonably warm, mid-day; 58, dark, windy, and incredibly cold, evening -- and surely, despite the certainty of colder weather ahead, things are looking up with the lengthening of the sun's influence from this day heretofore over the next six months.  Meanwhile, more Facebooking, pdf'ing, and composting compositioning (pdf 19 Street Songs (beginning IV. Day and Night) and page 11 Psalm 82.

December 20 - Ternary Lights, 'Tis the Season

We finally get the place cleaned up and decorated for Christmas, and it is not easy,

entailing a run

to get more

boxes and supplies,

opening up a variety of packed-away goods (devising a new comic still-life -- to the right of the piano, with the fuzzy red hippopotamus atop the can of "Dehydrated Water") -- of plastic dinosaurs and other ejecta/memorabilia of youth), and over the day still doing more Facebook posting (finally satisfied with the initial endeavor) and pdf'ing / composing (or should it be "composting"?) page 18 Street Songs (finishing III. Cowboy and Nevada) and 10 Psalm 82.

December 19 - Darkness Into Quite

Have always been a fan of biographies, maps, and timelines -- so enthusiasm continues for Facebook's new Timeline, complete with a Map view.  As the appointed hour arrives to leave for the Crystal rendezvous, figure an early start won't hurt, and indeed, leaving 15 minutes earlier at this end results in arriving an astounding hour earlier at the other, the traffic being so much lighter (but still not, however, anywhere near clear).

Make the rounds of errands early, therefore, and end up at Crystal's, delivering Bette's gifts, and proceeding together, with the ever-present Stanley, 

to the Open Space, 

which 

is 

as 

beautifully 

foggy 

and 

mysterious 

as 

it's

ever 

been, 

only really breaking after our departure.  

Head 

up 

to 

Novato 

for 

standard 

vehicular 

maintenance 

and 

then 

homeward 

in 

clear 

windy 

weather 

for 

extended rest.  Do the day's musical quotient in the evening (including 17 pdf Street Songs, beginning III. Cowboy and Nevada, and composition of Psalm 82 page 9), which stretches again, La Monte Young fashion, towards morning.

December 18 - Evening Serenade

Ensuing pages of pdf Street Songs (16 - finishing II. At a Photo Shop) and composition for Psalm 82 (8),

and an awful lot of old pictures scanned and posted on the Facebook Timeline, working with excess enthusiasm through the night.

December 14 - Shoe-Ins for Success

Grade a lot of papers, then head off mid-day, via new footwear,

down the

great corridor

to Diablo

Valley, grading even more tests, etc, then rendezvous'ing respectively with Music Historians and Theoreticians for 11-hour work, through hours of dark,

finally returning past fire and smoke for more late-evening musical endeavors (pages 12 and 4 respectively for Street Songs pdf and composition of Psalm 82).  That's it: last academic round-trip of the semester and year...
