May 2 - Change, Up

Transcribe the beginning of the Behzad Ranjbaran interview before blasting off to DVC -- incredibly enough, sans computer (the best that can be figured is that a bundle of recyclable newspapers psychologically stood in for the weight of bearing the Mac to the car (at least the laptop didn't get thrown out with the trash).  Do not even notice the absence until reaching for the briefcase upon arrival, and discovering a void.

Shaken, calling Harriet, and, yes, the computer is at ease on the bed... bringing to mind the debacle a couple of year's back when the first incarnation was left at Left Bank overnight.  So, a different type of day, starting right from the situation that there are no pens to proceed with board harmony, or even dictation.  No way to take attendance, either, so a visual one will have to do.

Here we are (wake up Mona!).  Visit Owen down the hall and cage a marker, proceed with a double dictation of Philip Glass's Satyagraha: Scene I and Akhnaten: Love Duet -- bass lines for realization, plus brief discussion of added tone consequences.  Also cover the five standard 7th chords in G, C, and F.  Upon returning pen, Owen asks me to sub for him subbing for Monty: same classes as last Wednesday, but now with lesson plans

(quizzes mostly, followed by film in the case of the

Rock History one "The British Invade!  The Americans Respond!").  Lab time is therefore yet again decidedly late, but manage to compose/record four new movements of All the BBC Sound Files (Op. 192) as

V. Transport
VI. Mammals and Birds
VII. Crowds, Children, and Footsteps
VIII. Comedy and Fantasy

Home in the

warm shadows (75 degrees at 7pm), with, indeed, the computer safe and sound... finishing the Commuter Times version of the Behzad Ranjbaran interview, with a fourth page composed for Psalm 55, reformatting King David: VII. Oh for the Wings of a Dove into Encore from Sibelius, movement V  of 12 Fingers pdf'ed and linked, Act V Scene 2 Mice and Men transferred from PC to Mac, and the

Camino Real: Block 7 video finished at 6'35".

Charles Hiroshi Garrett checks in -- he's been in California, but now heading back, and we agree to do an interview together someday.  He's also received Becker and Glass (enriched bio doesn't seem to be a problem) + Dunvagen has re-checked in re the latter.

And whoo hoo!  Still 484 MB (47.35%) of 1024 MB, so could be back on schedule tomorrow...
