June 24 - Row Permutations

The clean sweep of early arisings continues,

heading off to

Marin for the weekly walk with

Crystal and

Stanley.  Thereafter, time for errands, first to the post box receiving one of the most fascinating books of recent times

Bálint András Varga's Three Questions for Sixty-Five Composers,

then to

Cain's Tires for

replacement wheels,

in the interim lingering over the Varga by the library

(across from old First Presbyterian San Rafael),

followed

by a jaunt back up the

freeway to Toyota, where Bob can do the 60-mile checkup and provide a loaner for the afternoon.

In the borrowed vehicle, zip across the Richmond Bridge to Berkeley, picking up the February 2006 back issues of 21st-Century Music (with the January's of the same year promissed for next week), followed by a relatively brief DVC outing, recording

All the BBC Sound Files

XLI. Electric Trains
XLII. Steam Trains

before proceeding to John Bilotta's for a Goat Hall Productions Board Meeting with Harriet March and Tisha Page, and John McGrew.  Much profitable ground work is laid for the future, and we decide that regular monthly meetings are the way to go from now on.

Back to Toyota, the car has been given a clean bill of health, and its time to head south

through

Sausalito

and

the

Headlands,

over the Golden Gate

to

Old First Presbyterian

Church for the dress rehearsal of the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra's Lost Things Found show, beginning with

David Verotta's Imaginations and proceeding through

Bill Severson's A Simple Trifle,

John Beeman's Collage (featuring Maria Mikheyenko),

Samuel Ostroff's Before You Read, Martha Stoddard's Windsong and Hop-Skip-Jump,

Lisa Scola Prosek's Churchill in the Bath (with John Duykers), Allan Crossman's Arriving at Loch Lomond, and

Bernard Herrmann's Little Girl Lost.  Home late for more impossible compositional / orchestrational / videographic tasks -- as

Editing second movement of The Little Prince video as a discrete file,
Composing second page of Psalm 64,
Orchestrating page 36 of The Countess Cathleen, and
Finishing pdf of Academic Endeavors (Op. 19) with the second file, entailing the initial movements 10-16.
