June 10 - Enlightenment on the Path
A slant of sun infrequently seen, because it's up at 5:45am for the weekly
pilgrimage
down
80,
over
37
through
Sonoma
and
Marin
south
on
101, and west
(with a postbox detour) to the
Crestwood and
Terra Linda / Sleepy Hollow Divide Open Spaces,
to another hike with Crystal and Stanley --
the
farthest together yet,
roughly approximating the old ritual from c. 12 years ago and before --
all the way to Plateau Hill West and Fawn Drive,
retracing steps to the
Junction,
Hill 650,
the
Eucalyptus
Forest,
West
Grasslands, and the cars.
Near the trailhead, a brief chat with a hiking associate, who compliments us on our weekly ritual, followed by a visit back to Crystal's newly spruced-up digs for crumb cake,
then
over
the
Richmond / San Rafael
Bridge to Berkeley, where, somehow the Journals are not ready yet.
Through
the Caldecott and beyond to DVC, there's time to record Psalm 58 and the first part of 61 (there will be plenty of Arabian percussion available for the complete run) and receive confirmation from Charles Hiroshi Garrett re John Adams article for Grove, before being reminded that the Business Office is not open on Fridays during break, and heading to the
Apple Store. The c. year-and-a-half-old battery on the MacBook has expanded radically in the past week, pulling away from the middle of the computer's back (lights and slots are visible... not good) -- so, clearly time to get it replaced (do not want to re-experience the "random shutdown syndrome" of two Augusts ago). The task, in a very crowded but reasonably friendly environment,
takes a reasonably short time (with a modest though welcome educational discount),
aided by a fine DVC alum.
Back
in
the
car,
back towards home, back to the rest of the day's affairs -- with another bike-walk to the pool with Harriet as well -- and
page 3 Psalm 61 composed
pdf of third movement (second part) Some Stuff (Op. 16)
orchestration of 23 Countess Cathleen

back issues of 21st-Century Music 2002 emailed from PC to Mac
an eighth video clip added to the Camino Real: Block 10 video
continued work on the 21st-Century Music August 2011 issue and
