November 15 - And Another...

And another down the freeway for another Diablo Valley Music Theory special -- this time the scores of four George Crumb works (Echoes of Time and the River, Ancient Voices of Children, Black Angels, and Makrokosmos, Volume I), a video excerpt of Philip Glass's Koyaanisqatsi, dictation / board-harmony on Roger Waters's Shine On You Crazy Diamond: III, and imaginative student works.

After lingering with students, happen upon the DVC band playing orchestrations (bandstrations?) of Igor Stravinsky's Le Cinq Doigts and Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges: March, plus a chorale-like selection reminiscent of Alan Hovhaness,

then head out the door past Phil and company under the bodhi tree in the gentle sun (which turns out has warmed parts of the local world up to that magic number 70 -- so chalk up a third summer-temperature day of the month... notably late in the season), and home

(via errands) for more pdf'ing (Mary Variations: IX, hmm) and composing (The Cop and the Anthem, 49; Psalm 80, 3).  Additionally, Robin calls re the emailing of City of St. Francis midi files.

At day's end, receive an invite to perform as part of a triple bill at Stageworks next month -- an invitation gladly accepted.
