November 13 - Warmly Received


A surprisingly mild day (68 - most temperate since the end of the 70's on the second of the month), home in the morning to do pdf for Mary Variations: VII,


heading out midday for supplies,


including the Mark-and-Harriet video run (in the action-adventure section, with

Gallipoli [1981, re the 1915-16 battle, belying the boxcover banter],


Gunga Din [1939, after Rudyard Kipling's 1892 poem],


Hatari! [1962, featuring music of Henry Mancini, including Baby Elephant Walk]), and


High Sierra [1941, with a score by Adolph Deutsch], m'lady off to appointments in the city, while catching up with compostiion of The Cop and the Anthem (47) and beginning Psalm 80.


We rendezvous in the evening at Oakland Metro Opera, taking in again Joowan Kim's dynamic



Great Integration, for Commuter Times (which Fred Conner has newly purchased from Doreen Burgin) and 21st-Century Music,


writing up late upon returning (another strange transport on the road), and appearing respectively this Friday and soon (on blog, in archive, and print).
