November 14 - Slouching and Babbling On
So the equation for reaching Marin on a Monday morning from Solano seems to be leaving close to
dawn
at this time of year,
up
and
over
the
foggy
Sulfur
Springs
Mountains,
waiting
for
a
turn
to
cross
the
Napa
Marshes,
past
ranches
and
sheep
in
dairy country,
densely merging into 101 south for the
weekly
walk
with
Crystal and Stanley,
who
are
in
great
form,
poised to apply to Harvard Divinity School (the lady, that is) for the fall of 2012 -- what a wonderful idea!
After the jaunt to
Plateau
Hill
and
return
through
the
Terra
Linda / Sleepy Hollow Divide
and
Crestwood
Open Spaces, visit with Cora Lohse,
check the post box,
and vault over the Bay and through the
Canyon for
Week 13 of Theory (checking out Monty Bairos's version briefly beforehand... they are doing seventh chords...), with George Crumb's Black Angels as opening video, sight-singing performance of Terry Riley's In C, and dictation / board-harmony of the Philip Glass Einstein On the Beach: Trial (with a bit of Knee Play 1 as well). It's figured-bass without benefit of analysis or chord names, and a reasonable start is made, if hastily.
