Page 45 of The Countess Cathleen orchestrated --

before

heading

to

the

Sierra,

up

50

along

the

South

Fork

of

the

American

River,

past

Lover's

Leap

and

Pyramid Canyon to

Echo Summit,

then down the

Grade

to

South

Lake Tahoe,

running into

heavy traffic

at

Camp Richardson,

which semi-clears for the ascent of the

Cascade /

Emerald Bay Moraine,

taking in the sights (including the

seasonal

fall near Eagle Falls and

Canyon,

and

Fannette

Island),

then water views through Rubicon and

Meeks Bays,

Tahoma, and

Homewood to the last leg of the

Truckee River Bike Trail,

from

Rampart

to

Fanny

Bridge,

via

the

Twin

Twin Crags

Bridges

and

Gatekeeper

Park.

So it's done.  The walk from the California Coast to Lake Tahoe.  On to the Nevada border, if possible in the once-a-week hikes ahead.

Meanwhile,

after

a

bit

of

refreshment,

it's back in the car

north on 89,

west on

80 in

snow visibly

less than last week,

lingering

over

the

views

at

Emigrant Gap,

then descending again to the sun's anvil of the

Sacramento Valley, and

homeward in the semi-cool.
