July 20 - Tomorrow and Beyond...
Hard to believe the semester is already at an end, cruising down the freeway to join the scholars for music of George Crumb, Ornette Coleman, Bollywood, John Williams, Elvis Presley, Terry Riley, Jerry Lee Lewis, La Monte Young, and Steve Reich --
looking ahead to our last session, where the best we can hope is to make it to composers born through 1943 (i.e. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd), with maybe a few later composers sneaking in there beyond that.
Returning home quicktime, while producing the work du jour (final Pdf for Missa "The a Deux": II. Gloria [part 10], third page composed for Psalm 66, Page 62 of Countess Cathleen orchestrated, final video [28] for The Little Prince edited), Harriet is trying on various outfits for the evening's Goat Hall Kurt Weill Project at Theatre Werx in
San Francisco,
towards which we depart pronto,
cooling heels and knees at Starbucks,
loading
onto
the
stage,
upon
which,
after
fine
music from Kat and
Tom (Tom...Kat?),
Harriet's ensemble, including Cybele, John, Justin, Martha, and Meagan produce a bang-up show, including
Sailor's Tango,
My Ship,
Song
of the
Sirens,
Surabaya Johnny,
Pirate Jenny,
Youkali,
Heavenly Salvation,
and
Alabama Song.
Check the DVC course offerings upon return. Piano is gone (so that little 16-page book will have to wait, one supposes), but at least the Music History slate now has an enrolled student. Even one-a-day would yield a substantial enrollment over the three-week holiday.
Somewhere in there, also finish re-reading Edward Abbey's Confessions of a Barbarian (1986).
