January 6 - Ayes Wide

Awake at the Brownings to a panorama of sun and

sky,

extending from the San Bernardinos to Jacinto --

we

head

through

Yucaipa

and

down

to

Redlands

for

breakfast at McDuff's,

then

back

on the road

up

the

slopes

of

the

aforesaid, plus

Calimesa and

Cherry Valley

to

continue

the

personal-Pacific-Crest-Trail

route on the

southern slopes of

Oak Glen Road

from the

Wildwood Canyon /

Little San Gorgonio River Divide

down to the former's namesake avenue,

then further to the Riverside

County

border,

past

an

extensive

Ranch,

varied

vegetation,

and

the

Edward-Dean Museum to

the

bend

that

begins

Beaumont.

Dinner at

Jose's

(albondigas soup and

Mexican coffee)

then

back

to

John's,

and, after his teaching gig,

out late to a spot in

Redlands, and returning to the homestead, refreshed yet ready to retire.
