January 25 - Can We Stand It?

Another beautiful day, editing Diabolic Variations XXXI, heading off to DVC in

clearing conditions for the second day of Music Theory, internet working a bit better,

soon

followed

by

a

Greek lunch at John Bilotta's discussing the revised John McGrew proposal for members of the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra.

Back

up

680

and

80

thereafter to prepare for the evening class,

then a return to find 87 students (a new record) lined up in the hall at 6:45pm hoping to take Music Literature.

Alas can only accommodate ten additional students on top of the 40-person cut-off (modest class overages are allowed) -- wish we could have everyone, of course.  We amble along with good class participation from The Big Bang's unleashing of waves of energy through the early speculative song-and-dance of humankind on Earth (a fantasy on seven elements of music) --

Rhythm
Pitch
Dynamics
Timbre
Texture
Harmony
Form

-- looking forward to next week.

Out with Owen and Doug afterwards and then a video for

Diabolic Variations XXV in the late evening.
