November 30 - Up Against the Steely Skies
A second page composed for Psalm 42 ("As the Hart Pants"); fine Music Theory presentations from Aaron, Xavier, Adrian, and Scott;
paper-grading over shrimp (never got around to having a seafood platter back East);
late-afternoon coffee at the bookstore; and the evening class from Willie Dixon (b. 1915) through George Crumb (b. 1929) and John Williams (b. 1932), but still very much looking ahead toward
the late 20th Century. Home for another of the
History Phases videos -- IX. Guirault de Bornelh (Reis Glorios).

November 29 - Back to It All
Ah, the joys of being home, beginning Opus 187, Psalms, Book II, with Psalm 42, page 1,
heading
off to
Diablo Valley College for the second week of student teaching, for Sarah's dictation on John Williams's Harry Potter and Jeremy's board harmony of music from System of a Down (plus impressive student compositions),
launching afterwards
to
Sonoma County
for what will probably turn out to be the second-to-last walk on the Coast-to-Tahoe-Basin walk,
from
Willow
[-brook?]
Creek
Divide
Ranch
House
to
Penngrove,
on Adobe Road
past
Jacobsen
and
Davis
then
back
via
Bennett
Valley
and
Trinity
Road for the next YouTube video --
History Phases: VIII. Orkney Islands (Hymn to St. Magnus).

November 28 - View From There and Here
Time to hit the aerial road -- after
pool; an
incredibly sumptuous brunch buffet with Bette, George, and Ann
(re-encountering the Bells); and last views of and
from their residence, on the only pristine blue-sky day of the journey.
So adieu
to
loved ones,
and
into the security mill
and
waiting room
drill (careful to sit in a strategic spot this time within sight and sound of departure goings-on).
We have liftoff over dark-spangly Pennsylvanian vistas,
with sleepy seatmates (what a contrast) and
attentive stewardi.
At last the more concentrated -- yet surrounded by open space -- lights of California.
Touchdown.
Hallelujah, re-uniting with Harriet, and finishing the editing of Psalm 41 (27 pages total).
