November 27 - A Bit Early

Well, here we are again, more than a month ahead of time, but the markalburger2010.blogspot.com site, from which this continues, is just about full up (98%), and there's little confidence of even getting to the end of the month, let alone December.   A slightly different environment, but hopefully we shall get used to it.

And -- yes -- just figured how to re-institute the classic blogger minima template -- whew!  Could not abide the new default, so happy to re-establish the historical "look" here...

So, where were we?  Oh, yes, the Pennsylvania trip, waking up in the guest suite to welcome blue skies,

with the sun rising in the very immediate vicinity at c. 11:07,

proceeding

to

rendezvous

with Bette,

George, and Ann --

first

at

their

digs; then

walking down to

Maris Grove Pond

(with its geese-dispersing ersatz canines;

windy dances of reed pipes; and views of

South Creek Viaduct,

Hatton Place, and

adjacent structures),

over to the Library,

and

thence

to lunch (a shared Sloppy Joe -- talk about down-home -- and overly generous proportions of a delicious Moroccan soup).

Time for a getaway on the friendship circuit, first, via Painters Cross Road, south on

202, east and south in the

Smithbridge Road

vicinity

to

Steve and

Hilary Eshelman's, where their daughter Elizabeth recounts intriguing stories, and the

master of the house

gives a gracious

tour

of

the

domain.

Next

east to

Dave and Elaine Locher and extended family (daughter, grandchild, and

daughter-in-law -- various sons scattered here and about) near West Chester Pike; then south on the Blue Route,

east and north past the Airport, over the

Ben Franklin Bridge to

Haddonfield

and

Don and Urs Gosnay for

cigars, mutual-YouTube-show-and-tell,

and

jokes.

Return through

Central Philadelphia, with views of City Hall, the

moon, and

30th Street Station -- to lights out.
