September 18 - The Farthest Post

Once again up early, or absurdly late, posting pdf's of Stolen Students, Op. 25,  at

The International Music Score Library Project.  After a respite, put together the belated May 2011 print issue of 21st-Century Music, finish new pdf for Suite ("Sol[ar]"): II. Mercury, recording same with the Garishtone Ensemble, begin same for Sinfonietta: II, and compose the second page of Psalm 73 --

before heading out the door with Harriet towards

September 17 - Head Over Heels

Up early (or late from previous, depending on the perspective) creating cover and linking together the pdf's of Orpheus Cycle, Op. 24 -- not a small task, since IV. O How Lost Hopes had a formatting glitch that necessitated breaking the piece into two files (finally figured out how to put them back together by using the MIDI uploaded version as a frame, into which is poured info from the MusicXML variant) and VI. Lyre's Melody had another (a "hide staff" malfunction that wound up hiding three complete memasures of music -- and so close... only two pages from the end... only solution here was to make two complete pdf's, then chop them down to size and reassemble into one at the wonderful website Mergepdf / Splitpdf.

Post results at The International Music Score Library Project and take an extended break.

Later, before and after some yard work with Harriet, do the daily 21st-Century Music work, finish new pdf for Suite ("Sol[ar]"): I. Sun (Op. 2, looking toward the Swarthmore performance) and same for Sinfonietta: I. Allegretto (Op. 26 -- 8 pages total), recording both respectively with the Garishtone Ensemble and Orchestra -- very impressed with the sound quality.  Also create a cover and merge the pdf's of Stolen Students (Op. 25), in prepation for posting.  Finally, after dinner and a movie with H, begin composition of Psalms, Book III, Op. 197 (2011) with Psalm 73.

September 14 - For the Mix

More fog

and

blue skies, down 680 again, for review and a fair number of fine student compositions from the Theoreticians (at least we've gone through last names A-F by now).  A double paper-grading day at Yan's Garden (Theory) and Elephant Bar (Music History), then back to DVC to compose the fourth page of Psalm 72 and produce final pdf (IV) for Stolen Students, Op. 25.

Heraclitus was right, maybe -- heading down the 680 corridor to two ways of hearing Costanzo Festa's Quando Ritrovna (When I Find My Shepherdess), plus Chords in Minor and a bit on Contrapuntal Suspensions, which proves revolutonary for

some students.
