take Harriet out to dinner thanks to the birthday generosity of Sorrel Ann, transfer Missa California over from PC to Mac via email, deal with the Andrew Shapiro article revision for Grove American, and bring the Camino Real: Block 7 video to 2:45.

Now at 461 MB (45.03%) of the 1024 MB for this blog -- an increase of 2 MB over 5 days and more than 50 pictures, so definitely under budget...

April 12 - Imprinted

skies, to grade more old quizzes and print out new ones, but the latter task takes over.  Now that the ancient PC's printer has given up the ghost, the job falls to the laptop and newer laser jet -- but the print cartridges are out again (notably, the color one, which isn't even necessary for the situation).  Somehow, it's all unacceptable: one longs for the reliability of the old printer, with the flexibility of the (relatively) new computer.

So, off to Staples to buy a compatible, reasonably cheap laser printer.  Get one for a deal, am assured that it is easy to set up (will believe that when it happens), and return home to attempt.  Well, am able to load the software in, but the USB connection is very questionable.  Return, and even the Staples guy agrees with me.  The solution turns out to be utilizing the ethernet cable (thought that was only for internet, but guess it can be for other data transmission) -- works like a charm (am cheerfully refunded the other connector).  Back again, and am totally delighted.  Printer bangs out work, just in the manner to which we've been accustomed for many years.  But first time in the five years of Mac that the print-out experience has been wonderful.  Time's up, so off for the evening class, up to Bela Bartok,

looking towards composers born between 1890-1910 for next time.  Back to the homestead as soon as possible thereafter, preparing the last pdf of Ecclesiastes for posting at IMSLP, getting the Camino Real: Block 7 video to 2:15, and bringing San Timoteo Can[yon]tata over via email from desktop to laptop and adjuct storage unit.

April 11 - Tales from the Trips

Write up the 4/8/11 SF Symphony concert at 21st-centurymusic.blogspot.com in the form of a

Goldilocks and the

Three Bears trope and send to Doreen for publication in this Friday's Commuter Times,

then off to DVC for dictation / board-harmony on Paul McCartney's Yesterday, followed by presentation of Cats, Dogs, and Divas: XVI. The Proposition. Coffee and lab time follow, preparing to put Ecclesiastes: X. Dead Flies up at the International Music Score Library Project, composing page 7 of Psalm 52, and recording Henry Miller in Brooklyn: VIII. Love Song, IX. At the Club, and X. Paris.

Home almost simultaneously with Harriet, and, after a time, transfer Crystal Series (Op. 32) via email from desktop to laptop, and bring the Camino Real: Block 7 video up to two minutes.

April 10 - Always Another

The daily 21st-Century Music work, somewhat more of a challenge with The New York Times website turning less than congenial, with page 6 of Psalm 52 composed thereafter.  While Harriet is at afternoon Traviata rehearsal, put Ecclesiastes: IX. But All This up at IMSLP and transfer Duo Sonata No. 2 (Op. 31) from PC to Mac via email. After her return, there's time in the evening to make it to 1'45" with the Camino Real: Block 7 video.

April 9 - Weeding, Righting, Eurythmical

Harriet at Giuseppe Verdi La Traviata rehearsal most of the day, while page 5 of Psalm 52 is composed, Ecclesiastes: VIII. Who's Like posted on the International Music Library Source Project, and Merton Songs (Op. 30) transferred via email from PC to Mac.  Also make a supply run, including another dash to the library before closing to restock m'lady with videos -- including

Tennessee Williams's Night of the Iguana (1961/1964),

Walter Lord's A Night to Remember (1955 / 1958)

Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959),

Now, Voyager (1942), and

The Nun's Story (1958) -- returning, as H does, for part of an evening that includes up to a minute-and-a-half of the Camino Real: Block 7 video.
