April 18 - In-and-Out of Season
Begin composing Psalm 53, prepare pdf of Poems On Crane: V. The Heart (In the Desert), transfer Lot in Life (Op. 36) from PC to Mac, receive word from Dunvagen re the Philip Glass Grove American article, and zip out to the library to do another
video resupply for Harriet -- including
Ambrose Bierce's An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge (1890/1962),
Charles Dickens's The Old Curiosity Shop (1841/2009) and three versions of
Oliver Twist (1838... 1999,
2005, rather reminiscent of the classic musical in its movie manifestation, and
2009),
a somewhat suspect One Night with the King (2006),
O Pioneers! (Willa Cather, 1913/1992), and
Orchestra [i.e. Big Band] Wives (1942, featuring Glenn Miller and an uncredited Jackie Gleason). Thereafter, work on San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra business in preparation for the
circuit in
uncertain and
deteriorating conditions to the
foggy city,
first to another charming
Lisa Scola Prosek
salon,
including video for Camino Real: Block 4, followed by the board meeting at Erling's. Return via Marin, to 3:00 for the aforesaid Block 7 video and beginning a new composition, Twilight of the iPods (Op. 191).

April 17 - Palm Dreams
Ever mindful of the season, do a bit of 21st-Century Music work, finish Psalm 52 (white-note swing, after the beginning of Arnold Schoenberg's Die Gluckliche Hand), prepare the pdf of Poems on Crane: IV. The Blades of Grass for IMSLP,
take Harriet out to dinner thanks to the birthday generosity of Sorrel Ann, transfer Missa California over from PC to Mac via email, deal with the Andrew Shapiro article revision for Grove American, and bring the Camino Real: Block 7 video to 2:45.

April 16 - Rise and Set
Up by 8am -- bidding John, Elena, and Claire a fond goodbye --
and riding that
lonesome
trail
homeward
on
210,
desperately seeking
Susan
and
Steve,
(the latter via greater Pasadena,
the
Verdugo
Mountains
and
Tujunga area,
up
and
down
Weldon
and
Gavin
Canyons),
magically
scaling the
Violin Grade,
to Paradise (Ranch),
views of distant
Piru
Gorge,
Cherry Canyon,
Pyramid Lake,
Hungry
and
Peace
Valleys,
the narrow confines of
Gorman,
Tejon
Pass,
Castac,
and
the
borders
of
the
heroic
Grapevine,
then
plummeting
downward
to
the Central Valley,
via 99 for a
bit of variety
(hmm...),
a few stops,
distant Coast Range and
Sierra views,
Sacramento,
the familiar 80 corridor,
and home to Harriet, getting word of Marek and Maricar in Grants Pass at the cusp of a question, and preparing pdf of Poems on Crane: III.
Now at 473 MB (46.21%) of 1024 MB -- only 60+ new pictures, but many on the high side of 50 KB, so one supposes this will be OK, given predicted light usage of the coming week....
