Diablo Valley College for video clips re Scott Joplin's The Entertainer and Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, followed by dictation of the latter's The Firebird finale, plus Gb / F# Major, Bb and Eb Minor,

and enthralling

student compositions. 

After various tutorials, past the Bodhi Tree,

and head home,

up

the

freeway,

under the

clouds for more business activities,

out to the local post-office, and back again on the

warmest day of the month so far (79), to do page 8 pdf for Aerial Requiem, plus composition of page 3 Psalm 77 and page 19 The Cop and the Anthem.

October 10 - The Wages of Whatever

Today this window on the world includes a second unexpected bout of inclement weather, leaping into action with the DVC Theoreticians for dictation / keyboard-solfege / board harmony on Scott Joplin's The Entertainer (pickup / first four bars), plus a bit of Claude Debussyian Whole-Tone Scales on C and Db.

After swinging by the business office and various Martinez institutions,

charge back over the

Sulfur Springs to more minutia,

then off again to the second rehearsal of the

San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra The Dark Serenade,

with fine progress on all fronts.  Back through Marin, checking the post box, and home for page 7 pdf for Aerial Requiem (Op. 27), and composing the second-page Psalm 77 and 18 The Cop and the Anthem.

October 9 - Working at Play

End of a complete, extended weekend at home, most of it with Harriet, events including a perusal re Plays of Aristophanes, Sophocles, and Euripedes (translated by John Hookham Frere, Thomas Francklin, Michael Wodhull -- 1895), continued warmer weather, page 6 pdf for Aerial Requiem (Op. 27), and composing the beginning of Psalm 77 and page 17 The Cop and the Anthem.

October 8 - Comedy Today

Finish a re-perusal of The Complete Works of Aristophanes (ed. Moses Hadas, 1962),

with the weather warming up into the 70's for only the second time in the month, and work of the day including page 5 pdf of Aerial Requiem, plus further work on compositions (The Cop and the Anthem, 16 / Psalm 76, 3).

October 7 - Bright

Home all day with Harriet, multi-tasking to

Follow the Fleet (1936), finishing page four pdf of Aerial Requiem, and composing more of The Cop and the Anthem (15) and Psalm 76 (2).  Also touch base with Bette, and realize that the Swarthmore concert is only c. three weeks hence...
